What’s happening in Punmu today?
I am working at Punmu today, pretty quiet at the moment, lots of artists away on a big camp. All my kids, they at school. I can hear them playing football next door.
How do you like your tea?
I like my tea with two sugars and milk!
How did you get involved with Martumili? When did you start working for Martumili?
I started working in Newman last month, maybe 5-6weeks ago. I found it easy to start, my mother (May Burton) showed me how to do all the jobs, we work together. I heard about the job through her. I used to paint too, I still do sometimes. I like to paint at my ngurra (home) on my own. I paint Punmu, this is where I grew up. Now I live in Newman.
What does a typical day at Martumili look like?
I stretch the canvas, paint on the gesso, sometimes I help mix the paints when I’m in Newman.
